As a priest in Rome it is important to have a supportive community.  I thank God for the gift of my brother priests at the Canadian College.

Thanksgiving Mass with the Pope

Here is the full mass of thanksgiving. It is long but you can see my beautiful mug right at the beginning! Our download speeds are so slow I have not watched the whole thing. So somebody please let me know if they caught me doing anything silly on camera. I remember really rocking out to the latin chants!!

Overwhelmed with my new position

I want to share some wonderful news. I have been nominated to fulfil a most central service to our community here in Roma. I am awestruck at the honour and responsibility my brother priests have given me. While celebrations require the activity of an entire community, at the heart of the activity, when everyone has settled at the festive table, there is one voice that beckons into the celebration with the simple words, “May I freshen your drink?” Yes I have assumed the great responsibility of barista for the Pontifical Canadian College. My goodness, I am... a “Pontifical Bartender!!!” I know there will be many challenges ahead, yet I pray God will help me fulfill the position he has called me to. And if I run out of ice... may God have mercy on my soul.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Pope's Opening Words

"We can thwart God's dream if we fail to let ourselves be guided by the Holy Spirit," the pope said Oct. 5, during Mass in St. Peter's Basilica. "The Spirit gives us that wisdom which surpasses knowledge, and enables us to work generously with authentic freedom and humble creativity."

Holy Trinity Pilgrimage

Well I am about as far from Rome as you can get.   This is an ancient pilgrimage spot on the side of a mountain in the middle of the National Park.

Back to Italy

I am starting my time back in Italy with a week at Casamari.   It is a Cistersion Monastery.   Lots of prayer and working on farm.
